The collection is fast becoming favourite among celebrities as pieces have been spotted on Yvonne “Vixen” Ekwere, Helen of The Venus Bushfires, Toke Makinwa, and a few others.
Shot in theOrile, Makoko and Apapa area of Lagos, where the Kinabuti fashion initiative presently run some of its empowerment projects.
The shoot had contestants from the recent concluded Kinabuti Dare2Dream project- a platform in which aspiring models from all over the country the opportunity to achieve their dreams.
With this collection, the designer Caterina Bortolussi is inspired by the biography of the great Genghis Khan and his rise to power. Whilst taking us through the Mongolia of the 11th century, evoking visual thoughts of the valleys of the country, describing the values of good leadership, clan belonging, humility and faith.
Kinabuti fuses a combination of Vlisco high quality African Prints and the prestigious, elegant and refined LoroPiana fabrics, alongside Mongolian cashmere fabric to create this exquisite statement collection. Also featured in this chic collection are pieces using intricate lace, crochet, and leather fabrics with comprehensive layering, cut outs, patchwork and asymmetrical details.
